Ladakh Photography Trip REPORT
Here below is a glimpse of my stunning trip in Ladakh including a beautiful trek across the Markha Valley and the climb of the Kang Yatse 2 mountain.
For anyone willing to travel to Ladakh I recommend the Ju-Leh Adventure agency as well as the services of our guide Jit (+977 986‑1191830) who can organize similar adventures across Nepal!
My August 2025 solo trek through Ladakh’s Markha Valley, capped with an epic climb up Kang Yatse II, was a raw, soul-shredding journey that left me battered but buzzing. Kicking off from Chilling, we trudged 80km through Hemis National Park’s rugged trails, fording icy Markha River crossings that numbed my legs and dodging yaks that eyed me like I owed them rent. The valley’s a stunner – golden barley fields, mud-brick villages like Skiu and Markha, and ancient monasteries with prayer flags snapping in the wind, all dwarfed by jagged peaks. We camped and crashed in homestays, scarfing Momos and tea with locals tougher than leather, their lives unchanged for centuries. The climb to Nimaling’s meadows at 4,700m had me gasping in thin air, but nothing prepped me for Kongmaru La Pass at 5,200m – a lung-busting slog with views of the Zanskar Range that hit like a spiritual freight train. Then came Kang Yatse II (6,250m), a beast of a peak. The ascent was a brutal dance on scree and snow, each step a fight against gravity and oxygen starvation. Descending to Chokdo, we hitched back to Leh, sunburned, blistered, and alive. This wasn’t a trek – it was a gauntlet of ice, rock, and raw beauty that’ll haunt your dreams. Got the guts? Go for it. Julley!
